Donovan Courville - Defining a New Chronology
Developing a new chronology.
If Courville's identification of the Pharaoh of the Exodus as Koncharis is to be accepted, then radical changes must be made in Egyptian chronology.
Courville has developed a chronology which makes Koncharis acceptable.
Clearly his approach will be different from the traditional approach to chronology. It is different in two main areas.
 | Although traditional chronology says that Manetho lists the Egyptian kings sequentially, Courville argues that this sequential approach is incorrect. |
 | While traditional chronology rejects the Sothis king list as incomplete, Courville argues that it is complete in that it lists only the kings who were the major power at any time, and omits other kings whose reigns coincided with these major kings. |
For these claims to be correct, Courville must demonstrate that there were either parallel dynasties or coregencies, or both.
The chronology Courville proposes is presented diagramitacally in Table 1.

This is far removed from any accepted chronology for Ancient Egypt. Traditionally a continuous red line would be drawn showing a sequence from Dynasty I to the time of Alexander the Great, with a handful of blips marking anomalies in the traditional chronology.
The major tasks Courville undertakes are demonstrating that Dynasties III - V ran largely in parallel with Dynasties I and II, and that Dynasties VI, XII and XIII were largely parallel.
Courville does an excellent job of defending his chronology, and his arguments will be presented on the following pages of this site.
